Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem, Alhamdulillahi Rabbil Aaalameen,
wass-salaatu was-salaam alaa Rasoolihil Kareem wa alaa aalihi wa ashabihi wa
man istanna bi sunnatihi ilaa yawm-ed-deen.
All praise is due to Allah and May His Peace and Blessings be upon
the Last Prophet Muhammad SAW and all those who follow the path of
righteousness until the Last Day.
Patience is among the beautiful virtues of a true believer, he
accepts the decree of His Lord in all situations, and patiently bears it.
As believers, we have to believe that Allah is All Aware of any
situation we might be, and the reason is well known to Him as well. In times of
happiness, a believer should be thankful to his Lord and keep his duties to
Him, and in times of sadness and grief, a believer should realise that it is a
test and all tests are from Allah subhaanah and best known to His knowledge, so
he should exercise patience.
Allah describes
the patients;
“And certainly we shall test you with something of fear, hunger,
loss of wealth, lives and fruits, but give glad tidings to As-sabiriin (the
patient ones)
“Who, when afflicted with calamity, says; “Truly! To Allah we
belong and to Him we shall return”
“They are those on whom are the blessings from their Lord and are
those who receive His mercy, and it is they who are the guided ones” Q 2:
155-157.
A believer will go through difficulties, oppressions, and
obstacles, but he has to keep his faith strong in Allah and turn to Him, for
help comes from none but Allah subhaanah.
“Oh you who believe: seek help in patience and As-salat (prayer).
Truly! Allah is with As-sabiriin (the patient ones)” Q 2:153
The solution to a believer’s grief and sorrow is turning back to
Allah in patience and prayer, and very soon Allah will grant Him success.
Oh Allah, make us true believers, grant us patience to deal with
calamities that might befall us, and grant us success in the dunya and the
hereafter. Aameen.
Subhaanaka Allahumma wa bihamdika ashaahadu an laailaaha illa anta
astaghfiruka atoobuilaik.
